I am currently fascinated with the way isolation, abstraction and the fragmentation of objects change the way in which we experience them. This series of paintings have stemmed from my interest in objects and landmarks as triggers for emotions, memories and feelings. I have long been inspired by cuentos, tradition, and memories along with the sense of nostalgia that accompanies them. Each painting materializes from an abstracted or fragmented composition and is then built intuitively through individual layers of paint and various other media. Simplicity and intimacy are two main goals for this series. Throughout this creative process, I have become particularly interested in the effects of color, form and texture to bring forth these ideas and feelings.
